This is a drum beat I made on my electric kit that I thought I’d share with you guys. Very simple pattern:
First, 5/8 hihat pattern, hits on 1, 2, and 4. (3+2/8 pattern). Then, starting on beat 1 of the 5/8 pattern, add a kick drum that plays every 4 8th notes, basically a 4/4 pattern, or 2/4 if you prefer. Finally, you add in the snare drum, starting on one of the 4/4 pattern and 5/8 pattern, so everything starts together. Then, it basically moves up one eighth note every bar, so the hit first is on beat 1 of the 5/8 bar, then beat 2, and so on for 6 measures, where the last measure has no hit at all.
This is overall a pretty fun pattern to learn to play, and you can switch around hands and feet to play it differently as well.
